The breakdown behind the dream

A founder once asked me if anyone else is building their dream life and having a breakdown about it at the same time.

"Is anyone else building their dream life and having a breakdown about it at the same time?", asked a female founder.

People who choose to leave corporate are not afraid of hard work. What terrifies them is losing the clear metric that told them where they were on the right path.

Before, the corporate ladder, grades, promotions, and social validation gives guidance and conviction.

Many have decided that such scorecards are not aligned with how they want to live. They look internally and pursue a different, more personal scorecard.

However, the new scorecard tends to be blurry, unstable, and lacking validation, especially at the beginning.

It's particularly scary for the good students and model corporate workers, who are not familiar with following their own rules.

But if you listen to others who have gone through the same thing, you will hear a resounding feedback: it gets better.

You learn to trust your inner compass. You live your "wants" instead of "should" more naturally.

That transition from blurry to solid inner compass is worth naming honestly, instead of rushing through it.

If you're in that adjustment right now, I'd love to hear how it's going.
